बहुत बारिश हो रही है बाहर..
और वो बैठे , हाथों में जाम लेकर,
शायराना अंदाज में, पकौड़ियाँ खा रहे होंगे..

पर आज.. बहुत से घरों के बाहर बैठे कुत्ते,
भूखे ही भौंकते रहेंगे!
वो घर जिन्हें डीजल से.. या
रसोई गैस से कभी साबका
नहीं पड़ा.. आज तक!

वो घर, जिनके लिए.. जंगल से बीनी
लकडियाँ भी गीली हो गयीं...और

आज वो लोग बना रहे होंगे
उस सीली हुई लकड़ी के,
धुंए में ही रोटी की शक्लें.

और शायद उन्ही रोटियों को,
अपने दीदों* से निकलती,
बारिशों के साथ निगल कर ,
सो रहेंगे..अगली सुबह तक
टपकती छत से बेखबर !!

और..उधर वो अपनी खुमारियों
का जश्न मना रहे होंगे...
शायद..मुद्रास्फीति की दर को
घटा-बढ़ा रहे होंगे !!!

*दीदे = आँखें (शायद यह शब्द बृज-भाषा में 'दीदार' शब्द से आया होगा कभी.. )

they will swallow..those loaves
with the rain ..
Emanating from their eyes
and will sleep..
until the next morning
